The Example of Knowledge that is Not Acted Upon

'Alee bin 'Abdil-Wahhaab As-Sukree informed me, saying: Muhammad Ibnul-
'Abbaas Al-Kharraaz reported to us, saying: Ja'far bin Ahmad Al-Marwazee reported
to us: Ismaa'eel bin Muhammad bird Ismaa'eel narrated to us: Ibn Fudayl narrated to
us from Ibraaheem Al-Hajaree from Abu 'Iyyaad that Abu Hurairah said:

"The example of knowledge that is not acted upon is like that of treasure] that is not
spent from in the Way of  Allaah, Mighty and Sublime."

(There is no problem with its chain of narration in mawqoof form. Imaam Ahmad also
reported it in marfoo' form.)

Transcribed from: Iqtidaa-ul-‘Ilm al-‘Amal (Knowledge Mandates Action)

by Imaam Abu Bakr Ahmad bin ‘Alee Al-Khateeb Al-Baghdaadee (raheemahuallaah)

Transcribers note: Mawqoof is a statement attributed to a companion of the Prophet
(peace be upon him), which the companion did not ascribed to the Prophet (peace be
upon him).
