[Audio] Respecting the Opinions of Others [Shaykh al-Fowzaan] / by Moosaa Richardson
Check this out on Chirbit
Description:
Moosaa Richardson : In light of some refutations that I have authored (against the likes of Yusuf Estes, Kamal el-Mekki, and others), I feel it is very important for us all to return to some basic manners as it relates to the topic of respecting the opinions of others.

The Example of Knowledge that is Not Acted Upon
'Alee bin 'Abdil-Wahhaab As-Sukree informed me, saying: Muhammad Ibnul-
'Abbaas Al-Kharraaz reported to us, saying: Ja'far bin Ahmad Al-Marwazee reported
to us: Ismaa'eel bin Muhammad bird Ismaa'eel narrated to us: Ibn Fudayl narrated to
us from Ibraaheem Al-Hajaree from Abu 'Iyyaad that Abu Hurairah said:
"The example of knowledge that is not acted upon is like that of treasure] that is not
spent from in the Way of Allaah, Mighty and Sublime."
(There is no problem with its chain of narration in mawqoof form. Imaam Ahmad also
reported it in marfoo' form.)

Transcribers note: Mawqoof is a statement attributed to a companion of the Prophet
(peace be upon him), which the companion did not ascribed to the Prophet (peace be

Until he is asked about four things
The Judge, Abu Bakr Ahmad bin Al-Hasan bin Ahmad Al-Hirshee reported to us
in Naisapur, saying: Abul-'Abbaas Muhammad bin Ya'qoob Al-Asam narrated to us,
saying: Muhammad bin Ishaaq As-Saghaanee narrated to us, saying: Al-Aswad bin
'Aamir informed us, saying: Abu Bakr bin 'Ayyaash reported to us from Al-A'mash
from Sa'eed bin 'Abdillaah that Abu Barzah Al-Aslamee said: Allaah's Messenger
said:
"The two feet of the servant will not cease (from standing before Allaah) on the
Day of Judgment until he is asked about four things: On his life and how he
spent it; On his knowledge and what he did for it; On his wealth and where he
earned it and how he spent it; And on his body and in what way he utilized it."
(Its chain of narration is authentic. It was reported by Ad-Daarimee and At-Tirmidhee,
who said it was a "hasan saheeh hadeeth.")

Shaykh Muhammad Ras'laan said in his book Aa'dab Ta'ib bul - Ilm (The Manner Of the Knowledge Seeker) concerning knowledge and Actions:
Knowledge comes first - as it is the foundation and condition - and actions follow it, since it is the fruit that branches from knowledge. This is because every action - that is, every intentional movement and motion - does not occur without three things: knowledge, will, and ability. Nobody does something without knowing of it. So, he must have knowledge. Likewise, nobody does something without having the will to do it. So, one must have the will to do something, and the meaning of will (iradah) is that the heart reaches out to what it sees as being in accordance with what it seeks.
